When we think of Rio, we think of the abstract mosaic shapes that line the streets of Rio’s beaches. These basalt and limestone tiles form a public artwork that offered the inspiration for FRESCOBOL CARIOCA’s first portfolio of prints, with our most popular patterns drawing inspiration from the calçadãos of the beaches they are named after. Originally printed in our signature navy and white, we update these every season in a series of ever-changing shades, offering refreshed takes on the staples shapes. Copacabana

Inspired by the bold, wave like patterns found at Rio’s most popular beach, the Copacabana in perhaps our most recognisable print. Based on Roberto Burle Marx’s iconic rippling shapes, the Copacabana print is a timeless favourite, decorating swim shorts, linen towels and stylish shirting alike.

Ipanema

This retro-feel print is based on the tiling found along the streets of Ipanema. Immortalised in the hit Bossa Nova record, the district is famed for the youth and beauty of its inhabitants, and its beaches draw a notoriously cool crowd, mirroring the fashion-forward curves of this signature pattern.

Angra

The idyllic and untouched islands of Angra Dos Reis- located in the wider state of Rio and home to some of Brazil’s finest beaches- give their name to our Angra print swim shorts. A simple interlocking diamond pattern recalls the classical nature of Belle Epoque era colonial buildings, whilst the boldness of the design feels emblematic of a distinctly Brazilian sense of fun.

Pepe

An altogether more tucked away and quiet retreat, Pepe is named after a true Rio gem. The beaches at Pepe is famous for attracting Brazil’s most beautiful, and the graphic pattern (whether XXL or in our subtle tonal takes) exudes the cool and contemporary spirit of the district – a must visit on any trip to the city.
